POLAR HISTORY AT THE NORTHERN PEAK OF VESTERÅLEN

One of the most famous polar hunters of Spitsbergen, Hilmar Nøis,
came from Andøy island. At Andøy museum you can see an exhibition
on hunters life, and learn more about the unique geology of the island.
In the village Risøyhamn there is a small outdoor museum with five
buildings.

GUIDED TOUR TO THE TOP OF ANDENES LIGHTHOUSE

Andenes lighthouse was built in 1859, and was one of the first cast iron
towers in Norway. It’s also one of the tallest in the country, at 40
meters. Inside the lighthouse you can visit an exhibition with special
focus on the harbor and the lighthouse at Andenes. Guided tours are
offered by Whale Safari AS. Tours of 30, 40 or 60 minutes are offered.
Prices from 90 NOK for adults and 45 NOK for children.
