Winter holidays for children and Vikings 2022

24 February 2022

Winter holidays for children and Vikings 2022 is here! During the winter holidays, we have extra activities for the children to take part in.

On the following days in March there will be extra activities:

Tuesday 01 – Viking quiz and baking bread on sticks

Wednesday 02 – Storytime with dessert

Thursday 03 – Viking music and song

Friday 04 – Runetrip in the longhouse

Saturday 05 – The Children´s Vikingfeast

Some practical information about the activities:

Bread on sticks: We bake bread the way Vikings could have done – over the fireplace.  With dough made with ingredients from the Viking Age. We wrapped around a stick, frying it over the fire.
NB! Wear suitable clothing that can withstand a spark, as we will be around the fire.

Song and music: The Vikings also had musical instruments, with which they can create both sound and rhythm. The guest will hear a couple of Viking songs and see some different musical instruments. This is a popular activity because it creates a Viking Age atmosphere in the Chieftain’s House.

Runetrip in the longhouse: Here the children are taken 1000 years back in time, and get an insight into everyday life in the Viking Age through play.

The children’s Viking Feast: Children get to experience what a Vikingfeast is like. This is adapted for children, but also fun for adults. Remember to sign up here.

Groups can order Viking meals and visits in the museum by contacting our booking. Groups can pre-book for all days for visits outside opening hours.

We follow the rules and regulations of the national and local authorities, to ensure health and safety measures.

Welcome to Winter holidays for children and Vikings 2022 at Lofotr Viking Museum!
