Allocation to technical and industrial heritage sites

The County Council has allocated NOK 2,750,000 to technical and industrial heritage sites in Nordland. The grant goes to Neptun Herring Oil Factory and Fagerli’s old power station.

“Providing grants for technical and industrial cultural heritage is important for showing and preserving the history of the emergence of industrial societies, and the development of technology in recent centuries,” explains Christian Torset, County Councillor for Culture, Climate and Environment.

Neptun Herring Oil Factory

A piece of northern Norway’s industrial history. The country’s most modern herring oil factory when it was established in 1910. Cooperation with the occupying forces during World War II and predation on nature is part of Neptun’s exciting history. Protected by the National Heritage Board as a technical-industrial cultural monument.
