Our museums have various offers and activities for children and families with children this summer.

We have gathered some tips for visits and experiences.

Children’s museums

Several museums have exhibitions and dissemination specially adapted to children:

Fun Activities and Exhibitions

Visit the Andøy Museum and take a trip to the top of Andenes lighthouse!
Go all the way to Å and taste the world’s best cinnamon rolls at the bakery at Å and the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum.
Join us for seal feeding at the Lofoten Aquarium, and say hello to Molly!
Visit the exhibition Bæsj – the portal to the past at Bø Museum.
Explore the children’s trail at the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum.
Help the Hurtigruten Museum moor your boat.
Take part in fun summer activities at Lofotr Viking Museum: axe throwing and bow and arrow shooting, sail and row Viking ships, and not least visit the animals on the farm.
Find your artistic side at the Espolin Gallery and create your own lino print.
Go far back in time and attend the Viking Festival at Borg from 2 to 6 August.
Narvik Museum has a brand new exhibition about the electrification of the Ofotbanen!

Explore the museums:

Andøy Museum

Climb the stairs of the tall cast iron tower of Andenes lighthouse. Exhibition on the harbor development. Also exhibition: Life of a Polar hunter.

Bø Museum

Experience the history of Bø through objects and exhibitions, coastal culture and the authorship of Regine Normann, boathouse and rorbu. Fairytale forest for children. Artscape Nordland and outdoor gallery nearby. Museum gift shop. The man from the sea and the open-air gallery. Museum shop.

Coastal Express Museum

Visit the bridge, engine room and cabins on the Hurtigruten Finnmarken (1956) in its iconic building. Feel the atmosphere in the lounges from the steamship Finmarken (1912). Activities for children and families. Food and drink are served in the dining room anno 1956.

The Lofoten Aquarium

A meeting with sealife in the Lofoten sea. Arctic cod, halibut, crabs, saithe and haddock – you can meet these and many others in the Lofoten aquarium. Feeding of the seals and otters at set times though the day. Café.

Lofotr Viking Museum

Meet the Vikings. Smell the tar, taste the food, feel the history. The Vikings have been awaiting you for more than 1000 years. Welcome to the Viking age.

Narvik Museum

The spectacular Ofotbanen railway and iron ore trains, Narvik city’s development and industry in addition to travelling exhibits.

Norwegian Fishing Village Museum

One of Norway’s best preserved and complete fishing villages. Visit various buildings; e.g. boathouse, cod liver oil factory, smallholder’s cottage. Main theme: life in the fishing village 1840–1960 and the development of the Lofoten fishery over the past 250 years. Shop and summer café.

Sortland Museum

GaiaVesterålen (Sortland Museum) is located in the Gallery on Sortland. This summer, you can experience the Vesterål model in all its glory, as well as visit the museum shop. During the autumn, the rest of the premises will be transformed into a new museum. Stay tuned!
