Staff gathering 2023

23 October 2023

Museum Nord’s staff gathering 2023 took place at Stokmarknes from 18 to 19 October.

On a daily basis, we sit scattered around museums and offices in Ofoten, Lofoten and Vesterålen – therefore it is extra nice to be able to gather. Throughout the year, we work together, often in working groups that embrace multiple regions and multiple disciplines. Many meetings take place on Teams, or we meet in smaller groups. The annual staff gathering gathers everyone, for professional updates, joy, laughter and inspiration for the further work.

This year’s staff gathering was held at Stokmarknes and our beloved Hurtigruten Museum.

Over the past year, we have worked out a new strategic plan for Museum Nord, which was naturally a common thread throughout the gathering. The employees received praise from the board and management for the great work everyone has put into working on the strategy, and for the great commitment that has been shown in creating a good strategy for an exciting future.

We received professional input from the National Museum as inspiration for exhibition renewal, and continued to work on a sustainability plan under the auspices of GAIA Vesterålen.

We also took the opportunity to get to know each other, our tasks and expertise better. The chairman and members of Museum Nord’s board were also involved in the gathering.

An evening at the Hurtigruten Museum

The visit to the Hurtigruten Museum was one of the absolute highlights of the program! We were guided by skilled guides, both inside and outside MS Finnmarken. The meeting with Richard With himself was really interesting and a fantastic embodiment of older Hurtigruten history. The evening at the museum was rounded off with beautiful music on the flag deck. Atmospheric surroundings and talented musicians were really a great experience.

The combination with a seminar at Quality Hotel Richard With and an evening program at the Hurtigruten Museum is highly recommended. Contact the Hurtigruten Museum if you are interested in a similar program.
