The Lofoten Aquarium, The Lofoten Aqarium welcomes you with all its beautiful aquariums with all the beautiful and exciting sea creatures and fish we have in our sea here we live.

Not to forget the coral exhibition which is incredibly educational for young and old! -Haven’t you got this with you?! Then take a walk!

Experience seals up close, yes, be present when they are fed even! Maybe they can do some tricks?!

And the Otters we must not forget the great otters. The Lofoten Aquarium now has two otters. They have Eddie and another girl. The Lofoten Aquarium wants to have a name for this “nameless” otter girl and has hung up a suggestion box where you can participate the first two weekends in February. The draw for name suggestions will be made in week 7 and the winner will be awarded!

Opening hours at the Lofoten Aquarium from 4th of February:

Sunday – Friday: 11.00 – 15.00

Visit the gallery

From 6 of February The Espolin Gallery presents a unique art collection after Kaare Espolin Johnson (1907-1994), known for his distinctive depiction of people, everyday life and coastal landscapes in the north. At Gallery Espolin you can take a deep dive into his extensive oeuvre.

The fishermen’s conditions and toil, storms and storms, dramatic depictions of the sea and life in Lofoten. These are motifs that often recur in Kaare Espolin Johnson’s works. In the exhibitions you will meet an artist who depicted Lofoten almost exclusively in black and white, but who nevertheless showed all the nuances of life.

In addition, you can watch films where the artist herself talks about his life and art, about sources of inspiration and his conditions as severely visually impaired. -Did you know that Espolin was almost blind and saw the world in an eternal semi-darkness?

For the little ones, we have created drawing tables in the library.

This year, as last year, the Espolin Gallery is helping to mark the Sami National Day, with many activities in Kabelvåg on 6 February and several days the same week. Come and join a lecture at the Espolin Gallery on Friday 9 February!
