The Lofoten Museum, Galleri Espolin and the Lofoten Aquarium arranged an Open Day on 26 May. At that time, Museum Nord’s 20th anniversary was also celebrated. It was an eventful day with lots of different activities. Everything from rowing to the study of edible wild plants with “Lofoten’s wild kitchen” and much, much more.

Volunteers, teams and associations showed up on the day and made the day absolutely perfect!

The weather was impeccable. And many took the opportunity to take a small bath on the shore at the Lofoten Museum.

At the Lofoten Museum, you got a taste of homemade fish sticks fried on griddles.

Vågan library was present in the fisherman’s cabin Alperosen all day and brought books about the coast and sea for children and young people.

Lofoten Underwater Club did freediving and apparatus dives from the floating quay at the Lofoten Aquarium. They showed what they found in the sea and talked about diving in Lofoten. At the same place, you could visit the rescue boats Sundt Flyer and Inger Johanne, as the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue was also docked at the Lofoten Aquarium.

You could test your rowing skills and find your rhythm with a good friend in one of the rowing boats we have set out at the aquarium. Kai Larsen, for the coastal team, was a willing helper who volunteered as an auxiliary crew in the topic.

On the quay at the Lofoten Aquarium, you also got a taste of smoked salmon from NordLaks, which was very popular.

Artist Bjørn Tore Stavang had an art workshop at Galleri Espolin where he taught exciting techniques.

Here it was also the very last opportunity to see the exhibition Seeking From Darkness to Light, where nine artists have created artworks in connection with the 200th anniversary of the lighthouse lens.

We thank everyone who came to us and made the day as great as it was!
