Geology hikes to Keiploftet
The geology hikes to Keiploftet in Eiterdalen in Ofoten are underway! For the fifth year, Ballangen Museum conducts these hikes to Keiploftet as a DKS program for 7th graders in Narvik Municipality!
The hikes go up to the old quartz quarry up at 380 meters above sea level at Keiploftet in Eiterdalen in Råna. Up at Keiploftet, the students get to help light a fire, and get an introduction to the history of the quartz quarry and the geology up there. Both quartz and feldspar were extracted here.
The first groups on the hikes this year were Bjerkvik school last week, and this week started with a trip together with Skjomen school.
