From Tuesday to Thursday this week, the collections team was in place for a registration session at Korsnes Museum in Hamarøy municipality to work on the museum’s artefact collection. Korsnes Museum is part of the Ofoten department.
The artefact collection at Korsnes Museum has a wide range of objects, including boats and equipment related to fishing, agriculture, household utensils and the telegraph station.
This round of registration session at Korsnes this time consisted of both new registrations and photographing of objects, and marking of already registered objects that needed new notes or marking on the object.
Korsnes Museum is located in an idyllic area with white beaches and lush countryside approx. 6 km from the ferry port at Bognes. The facility is an old communication center; Here there was a trading post, post office, telegraph and steamship calls. The building environment dates from the 1700s to the 1900s.
Korsnes Museum today consists of Bårstua, a storehouse, the pier, the barn and the station, where there was a telegraph and post office. In the barn you can experience the photo exhibition “Eternal Moments” about the photographer Magdalene Norman from Korsnes.
