Although the weather did not put us in Christmas spirit on Saturday 7 December, we still had a fantastic day together with several hundred guests during Old-fashioned Christmas 2024 in Å.
Cinnamon rolls, donuts, Bjørnis the Fireman Bear, Santa Claus, raffle sale, Christmas workshop, Christmas market, and Christmas tree walk. The list is long with both activities and contributions to the event.
This year’s Old-fashioned Christmas was a pleasant gathering for young and old. Since December 1, 1990, the first Saturday in December has been reserved for Old-fashioned Christmas in Å. This year, the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum arranged Old-fashioned Christmas for the 34th time and some of the volunteers have been involved almost all the years!
Concert and cinnamon roll
Bjørnis the Fireman Bear invited to a Christmas dance in the city center, most of the museum buildings were in use during events. In addition, as a nice tradition, the Ellingsen family opened the doors to the manor.
The bakery was warm and cozy with freshly baked and fresh cinnamon rolls and donuts. The store sold lottery tickets and handed out forms for competition. At the post office, we distributed the prizes to lucky lottery winners.
Gerd and Paula were in Husmannsstua with lottery tickets, donuts and coffee. Competition awaited visitors in the boathouse and the cod liver oil factory, Gunnar greeted everyone in the smithy.
Mayor Hanna Sverdrup helped Santa Claus hand out Santa bags in the barn. Lofotodden Music Band played up to dancing around the Christmas tree aisle.
Cozy Christmas workshop and Christmas market
We also filled the House of Prayer with life. After a nice Advent time with Marit Prest, the Christmas workshop began with face painting, snow balls of jam jars, beeswax candles, Christmas jewelry and Christmas cards. Those looking for Christmas gifts could find treasures at the Christmas market in 2 premises with many exhibitors, in the museum café and at the service house.
Light walk Lofoten arranged a cozy exhibition inside and outside the service house.
The volunteers during Gammeldags Jul were: Paula, Gerd, Svein, Jorunn, Igor, Bogdan, Ruben, Emilie, Emma, Armand, Hanna, Bjørn Oscar, William and Inger.
Bjørnis was sponsored by :

Thank you very much for everyone who supported the event with prizes, financial support, visited us, exhibited, or contributed in some other way.
See you on December 6, 2025!
