A journey back in time – straight from your mobile phone

10 January 2025

This week we are trying out an exciting prototype app on test candidates at Lofotr Viking Museum.

The app provides a unique digital experience where you can see what archaeological structures once looked like on the museum grounds. In addition, you can explore objects from the exhibition in their original find contexts and gain insight into how they were used. Through an AR simulation, participants can move around the Viking Farm and the medieval farm as if they were really part of history. Here you can examine objects up close and listen to communication at selected places in the digital landscape.
