The sun is finally back in our area – and of course we celebrate with sun buns and selfies. Join a small tour of Museum Nord and see pictures of happy people and sun buns.
We must acknowledge that not everyone has yet seen the sun, even though we are at the end of January. But that hasn’t put a damper on the celebrations.
And, what exactly is a sun buns? There are several definitions, or perhaps preferential preferences. Some people need a buns with yellow in it while others prefer Berlin buns. We have not taken any official position on this, just so it is said.
Sometimes we are out and about. Here is Anna on a trip to Oslo to meet Harald Zwarts together with colleagues from Lofoten.

Gro, Julie and Ingrid struck with Berlin buns in the sunshine outside Bø Museum. If you are in the Bø area in the near future, we can recommend that Bø Museum shows the exhibition My ship is loaded with. and associated lectures. The exhibition is produced by Ingrid and the team in Hadsel.

The gang at the Andøy Museum has also had a sun bowl party at the museum:

In Sortland, it was time for sun buns in beautiful winter light. Did you know that Sortland Museum and GaiaVesterålen are merging, and are on the move?

At the Hurtigruten Museum, Kyi Tha baked delicious sun buns:

The museums in Storvågan are often the earliest to bathe in the sun of our museums. Here you can get absolutely magical pictures.

And selfies, as demonstrated by Carina, Stig, Malin and Lisbeth:

And yes, there were sun buns here too, both in the office and at SKREI’s construction site:

In Narvik, it takes a little longer for the sun to shine in the city because of the high mountains that are close by. But the knowledge that the sun is above the horizon can also be celebrated. Narvik Museum, and Kjersti with a sun bun and Beisfjord in the background.

Ida and Elin pose at the train station with the locomotive Bifrost:

At Lofotr Viking Museum, there were sun buns on everyone, even Nidhogg. Ole-Andreas enjoyed the sun ball in the tractor.

Viking Emilia tested whether the sun bun was better grilled. While Rebeca and Elisabeth obviously disagreed about the distribution of the bowl since the axe had been brought out. Hope they came to an agreement eventually😊

At the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum, it was cloudy when the sun buns were to be enjoyed, but that did not dampen the mood:

We can’t boast that this has become a tradition yet. But we did the same round last year when the sun came back. Watch it here:
