CONVIVUM: Travel letter from Coimbra

03 February 2025

Recently, Museum Nord at R&D Manager, Anna, and SKREI Research Centers, Jonas in Portugal attended a kick off meeting for our latest Horizon Europe project “CONVIVUM”. An interdisciplinary and international project that aims to promote food as a living cultural heritage within the framework of the European green shift. The project explores how food, both as a physical and symbolic heritage, can contribute to sustainable development, social change and the preservation of food traditions. It is divided into three main areas:

  1. Food culture as a living heritage ? Explores how food traditions can be adapted and developed in the face of ecological challenges and changing social conditions.
  2. Creative and inclusive food experiences ? Stimulates innovation and new ways of experiencing food, promoting transparency, care and sustainable consumption patterns.
  3. Technological innovation for the preservation of food traditions ? Using technology to revitalize and make food traditions more sustainable and relevant to today’s society.

The project is a collaboration between public and private actors in several European regions, and aims to develop sustainable solutions that strengthen local communities and preserve food culture across generations and cultures. Our partners are spread across Portugal, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Norway.
