The Horizon Europe project “Culturality” addresses cultural heritage in rural and peripheral areas to promote creative tourism and sustainability.

We are in the process of interviewing producers of locally produced products, craftsmen and other cultural actors for the CULTURALITY project.
Museum Nord participates in the Horizon Europe project CULTURALITY, where part of our deliveries are mapping and interviews of products and companies that are based on local ingredients and traditions. In addition to craftsmen who, through their work, convey and pass on cultural heritage, and other cultural actors within the spectrum of intangible cultural heritage.
In our regions, Ofoten, Lofoten and Vesterålen, there are several such players and craftsmen. In Lofoten, we have interviewed Lofoten Wool, and gained an insight into their products and about the company. In Ofoten, craftsman Per Henrik Mørk has shared from his carpentry and model-making work.
Lofoten Wool
Lofoten Wool was established in 2014 and is located in Stamsund. In addition, they also have outlets in Henningsvær. They produce yarn from sheep in Lofoten and Northern Norway.
Textile artisan Ragnhild Lie has taken us on the journey to Lofoten Wool and the production line from farming to high-quality products with wool from Northern Norway.
History seen through models
Per Henrik Mørk is a local enthusiast in Narvik who conveys history through models of cultural-historical places and buildings. By profession, he is a carpenter, or rather a cabinetmaker, and therefore takes advantage of this into the painstaking work with models.
Over the years, he has built up an impressive repertoire of models from places in Ofoten; models of Narvikgården, Hundalen, Rombaksbotn, and the prison camp in Beisfjord. Right now, he is working on a model of the laundry of the mining company Bjørkaasen Gruber in Ballangen. The laundry model will be finished in the summer, and you can experience it at Ballangen Museum.
