Hello!
Do you have any memories of the last time you were in a community hall (*)? Or are you involved in a team that maintains one?
(* By this term we mean all houses that are publicly accessible and can be lent out? from community centers, youth centers, houses of worship to something that is in private ownership with a similar function)
Our community halls are special, local meeting places. Many have been in use for a long time and have important functions in the local communities. Some have changed a lot, some are top-notch maintained, while others need some love.
We want to shed light on the history of our community halls in Lofoten, find out more about the functions and activity and those who work to maintain them. What role do they play in local communities? What kind of food is served?
Why are we asking this? In general, Museum Nord is interested in documenting our local history. The community centres refer to how society is organised and has developed over time. This time, we are also motivated by CONVIVIUM. CONVIVIUM is a project with several partners from different countries who want to find out more about food heritage here in Lofoten. In the next two years, we will interview local people, document food culture, bring people together who are interested in food, cook together and work on an exhibition.
Are you involved in one of the community halls in Lofoten? Can you help us? Please fill out a short form to send us some information…
We look forward to hearing from you!
Greetings from us at Museum Nord
