Potato soup, play and history at the museum

02 May 2025

Last week, we had the third graders from Melbu school visit Melbo Manor as part of The Cultural Rucksack. We teamed up with students from Hadsel Upper Secondary School, the child and youth worker line, to give the kids a day of learning and play both outside and inside.

It was both learning and bonfire. The children got to meet the Bruun doll, the doll from 1882 that belonged to Dorothea Bruun. They also heard about what it was like to be a child when Maren and Christian Frederiksen’s children grew up in the early 1900s.

Afterwards, there was play outside with the young people from the Child and Youth Worker line at Hadsel upper secondary school, and finally cozy around the fire with potato soup and biscuits that the young people had made.
