Ravel 150 years

22 May 2025

Ravel 150 years is a concert series organized by Musikk i Nordland. On 6 June, the tour will visit the Espolin Gallery.

Ravel (1875-1937) was a French composer who placed great emphasis on both precision and emotion. He himself said: “Music, I feel, must be emotional first and intellectual second.”

Miroirs was written in 1904?05 and consists of five movements, each dedicated to a friend in Ravel’s artistic circle, ? Les Apaches?. The music moves from the delicate and dreamy to the rhythmic and lively, and gives a good picture of Ravel’s musical world.
