Funds from the Savings Bank Foundation DNB provided new signs and tree care in the museum garden of Melbo Manor.
Melbo Manor is part of Schübeler’s gardens, which is a network for historical gardens. Together with the garden network, a joint application was sent to the Savings Bank Foundation DNB for 2023 to 2025 to “Take care of the past and make available for the future.” We were awarded NOK 250,000.
Of the allocated funds, the museum was to create an educational offer for the middle school at the school. The work was done together with Gaia talent, in addition to good input and help from colleagues.
10 signs have now been put in place with a short information text and great design from Thea Charoline Blokhus in Gaia talent. On the signs, a perennial, a bush, some trees, the earthworm, the farm mill and the farm mound have been described. If you want to know more, there is a QR code on the sign that ends up on the website of Melbo Hovedgård. There is also a quiz to check your knowledge after a trip to the museum garden.

The museum has also had tree caretakers visit to prune the large trees in the garden. In some places, we have planted new trees because it has been the trees in previous autumn storms.
