11 June 2025

On Tuesday 10 June, the stage was set for the exhibition opening at Ballangen Museum of the new exhibition “Vaskeriet”!
Over the past year, the museum has had a great collaborative project with model builder Per Henrik Mørk and students from Ballangen School. Kingsrose, Bamek and others have also contributed both as sponsors and contributors to the project.

Every Tuesday and Friday throughout the school year, smaller groups of students have been at the museum together with Per Henrik to build the model of Bjørkaasen Gruber’s ore processing plant, popularly called “Vaskeriet”. They have been involved in building up the landscape on the model and have cut, glued and sawn together with Per Henrik. They have also learned a lot about Bjørkaasen Gruber through the project. Vera Steine has contributed with paint on the model.

During the exhibition opening, speeches were given, both from the museum, but also from the principal of Ballangen School, Ingeborg Fagerbakk Samuelsen, model builder Per Henrik Mørk, Ballangen History Society and Sivert Bolle from the student group who have participated in the project. Ballangen School presented a bird feeder to Per Henrik and a flower box to the museum, as a thank you for the cooperation.
