DKS Geotours to Keiploftet

13 June 2025

Ballangen Museum has completed three weeks of Geotours to Keiploftet in Eiterdalen in Ofoten! This is the sixth year the museum conducts Geotours to Keiploftet as a DKS program for 7th graders in Narvik Municipality. This year, we have had eight classes from different schools with us, around 160 students in total.

The geotours go up to the old quartz quarry up at 380 meters above sea level at Keiploftet in Eiterdalen in Råna. Up at Keiploftet, the students get to help light a fire, and get an introduction to the history of the quartz quarry and the geology up there. Both quartz and feldspar were extracted here.
