MY Cultural Heritage Day in Bø

18 June 2025

On Tuesday, the adult education in the municipality and Bø museum visited Bø kystlag for the first part of MY Cultural Heritage Day.

MIN stands for diversity and inclusion in the local community and we have received support from the Cultural Heritage Association for these events. The main point is to convey cultural heritage while being social, so the first part went to boat cleaning and cooking. To polish boats means to scrape and tar them out. We have also learned what fillers really are, and what they are used for: Fillers are a kind of filler that is filled into cracks and shards in wooden boats before you apply the tar.

The food consisted of cold saithe and sour cream with cucumber salad and rhubarb soup for dessert. For some of us, this tastes like a happy childhood while others hadn’t tasted it before. In any case, there was broad agreement that it was good.

During the Cultural Protection Days in week 36, we will carry out part two of MY Cultural Protection Day. Then we have invited the middle school at the primary schools in Bø to come and practice rowing, participate in an activity trail with cultural heritage as a theme and to cook traditional food with us. We are looking forward to it!

Thank you so much to everyone who showed up and made this a very nice day!
