GaiaVesterålen is on the move

27 June 2025

After much planning, the GaiaVesterålen team is finally on the move – but they are not going far. From now on, you can find them on the first floor of Galleriet in Sortland, where they will be co-located with Visit Vesterålen, Vesterålsrådet, and Kultursamarbeidet i Vesterålen. On the ground floor, preparations for a new attraction are underway: The 3D model of Vesterålen has been installed, and the museum shop is under construction.

It was back in January this year that Sortland Museum moved out of Kulturfabrikken, and rebranded while they were at it. GaiaVesterålen now carries the local museal heritage onward, with a view to the past, present, and future.

With this move, the GaiaVesterålen team will be neighbors of some of the vital actors in Vesterålen’s cultural landscape. They will be well situated for local and regional collaborative work, and the offices will be in the same building as the museum, enabling closer contact with the public. Work on the exhibition and museum shop is ongoing, with the aim of opening as soon as possible.
