Wednesday 2 July it was time for Mining Camp at Ballangen Museum! This year, as last year, the event was a collaboration with the Ofoten Amateur Geological Society.

It was possible to participate in several activities with geology as a theme for both young and old. Among other things, guests could take a closer look at and explore different rocks and minerals and try out their knowledge of geology on a nature trail around the museum, with questions that both children and adults got to wrestle with.

There was also a demonstration by a Geiger counter. Geiger counter is an electronic instrument used to record radioactive radiation.

The guests also got to visit the museum and the new exhibition about the laundry of Bjørkaasen Gruber. The exhibition opened at the beginning of June, and includes a model of the laundry in Bjørkåsen, made by model builder Per Henrik Mørk together with students from Ballangen school.
