The museum in Kjøpsvik cover mining and industrial history, cave finds, fish farming and household culture, war history and the school system.

Through the Horizon Europe project Culturality, we arrange workshops for cultural actors, artists and craftsmen in places where we have museums. On Saturday 23 August, we invited to a workshop in Kjøpsvik.
The goals of the workshops are that we, together with local actors, look at opportunities and methods, draw experiences, and facilities for collaboration and networking. How can we together create a vibrant local community?
Nyksund Reloaded
In Kjøpsvik, we got a close and valuable workshop. From Museum Nord’s side, we became better acquainted with the challenges and opportunities in the local community in Kjøpsvik. With us in the workshop was researcher and artist Elisabeth Brun from the project Nyksund Reloaded. Nyksund Reloaded explores how the International Nyksund Project (INP) can be relevant today, and what we can learn from it, in a time of environmental challenges and political unrest.
Elisabeth Brun and her colleagues at Nyksund Reloaded use archive material and interactive tools to create awareness of what it takes to build sustainable small communities. This gave us an interesting approach to discussion and group assignments based on Kjøpsvik.
