Lofoten Art Open 2025
This year’s edition of Lofoten Art Open is approaching!
On the weekend of 13th and 14th of September, we invite you to open studios, workshops, galleries and exhibition spaces throughout Lofoten 🩷 Meet the artists, craftsmen and experience many different art expressions. Free admission to everyone and offers of activities.
DIVE INTO THE ADVENTUROUS WORLD OF ESPOLIN
The Espolin Gallery is open late both Saturday and Sunday and admission is free during Lofoten Art Open.
We show three permanent exhibitions with art by Kaare Espolin Johnson (1907-1994) and a documentary film about the artist. In addition, we arrange a family workshop on Saturday.
Exhibitions
In our collection exhibitions, the public can experience some of Kaare Espolin Johnson’s earliest drawings, his famous lithographs and fascinating works on paper in a mixed technique.
Deep dive
Watch the documentary film “It was always a longing” (36 min). Experience the artist talk about his life and his sources of inspiration, as well as his most central motifs such as “Juksa Fishermen”, “Fylgje” and “The Light Bridge”.
The film will be screened at 12.00, 15 and 17.00.
Watch the documentary film “The Workers’ Magazine and the Scrapbook”. Watch the artist talk about selected illustrations, and learn about how and why they came to be. The film will be screened at 13.00 and 16.00
