Oseberg tapestry on Super Saturday

19 September 2025

Super Saturday in collaboration with Meieriet Library is back after the summer break. On Saturday 13 September, the Vikings from Borg went to the library for an exciting event that had Oseberg tapestry as a theme.

Lots of fun with toys and coloring

The children were challenged to make their own version of tapestry and then it was time to color figures that participate in the funeral parade that are represented in the tapestry. It is now on display in the children’s section of the library. Do you want to learn more about tapestry and other textiles from the Oseberg ship grave? Click here to explore.

In addition, there was an archaeological box, competitions and a cozy corner with a bonfire.

Did you know that last week the Oseberg ship was moved for the first time after almost 100 years? The ship is now in its new location in the Viking Age Museum in Oslo. Here you can see the entire moving process.

We are looking forward to the next Super Saturday at Lofotr Viking Museum on November 8, 2025. See you next time!
