CONVIVIUM: gathering in Gdańsk

23 October 2025

From 15 to 17 September, Jonas Walsøe and Elin Tinuviel Torbergsen participated in the CONVIVIUM gathering in Gdansk. A meeting that was about food, cultural heritage and museum dissemination.

For those who do not know about CONVIVIUM: This is a three-year Horizon Europe project (2024-2027) that is based on food culture as living cultural heritage. The goal is to develop green, inclusive and aesthetic solutions for the society of the future, inspired by the New European Bauhaus initiative. The project develops prototypes, digital tools and new organizational models, and combines tradition and cultural practices with innovation and technology.

On 15 September, we visited the University of Gda?sk and the European Solidarity Center. ECS is located on the historic shipyard site and houses an exhibition depicting the rise of the solidarity movement from the strikes at the shipyard in August 1980 and the state of emergency that followed, to the transition towards democracy and the movement’s wider importance for Europe.

On September 16, we got to try our hand at cheese making in a 300-year-old house in Elichowo, May Hollender. Here we tasted wonderful cheese and local historical food.

On the closing day, 17 September, Elin presented the app in a five-minute session, with a short film demonstrating how to navigate the AR simulation at Lofotr Viking Museum, supplemented with comments along the way.
