When Fenrir Was Bound at Borg – Halloviking 2025

27 October 2025

Laughter, footsteps, and small squeals filled the Chieftain’s Hall at Borg as Lofotr Viking Museum invited guests to this year’s Halloviking. In the darkness of the hall, children became part of the story about how the god Tyr and the black dwarf tricked and bound the mighty wolf Fenrir.

In the walking tale The Binding of Fenrir, the children had to solve riddles, find clues, and overcome their fears to help. Small eyes shone with excitement and pride when the wolf was finally bound, and calm once again settled over the hall.

And afterwards, there was time for quieter pursuits. Many people got to try their hand at Kohlrosing together with the black dwarf, an old Viking technique where patterns carved in wood come to life by filling the carving with colour. In addition, Fenrir himself appeared and helped the costumed make objects out of leather. Around the tables, the conversation was lively while blueberry juice, the “strength drink” of the day. The black dwarf served to the heroes who had tamed Fenris.

The costumes put the icing on the cake. Little princesses, witches and superheroes filled the house with both horror and charm. The atmosphere was like something out of a saga, only with a little more laughter.

A big thank you to everyone who participated, laughed, ran and fooled Fenrir with us.

We are already looking forward to next year’s Halloviking. Where there will be new stories, new heroes and new adventures at Borg!
