This year’s Consortium meeting in the EU Horizon project RESIST took place in Terrassa, just outside Barcelona, on 21 and 22 October. The project just reached its mid-point and is already showing results in the form of fruitful collaborations and ideas.
The RESIST project is made up of 12 European regions and a range of organisations that work collaboratively to develop, implement and share solutions for climate change adaptation. Vesterålen is the only Norwegian region participating, with a partnership consisting of Vesterålsrådet, Museum Nord, Andfjord Salmon and SINTEF.
Amongst other things, the Vesterålen partners are developing solutions to strengthen climate-oriented municipal planning, and build a more robust marine industry. Last year, they also started a transfer process for solutions developed by project partners in Denmark and Sweden. Solutions sharing is a central part of the project, as best practice in one region can enhance climate change adaptation work in another.

The Catalan project partners had planned a rich programme of presentations and workshops, but also time for conversations, knowledge exchange – and delicious tapas. To round off the meeting, the participants were offered a demonstration of a drone system in use in Catalonia for rapid identification and intervention in cases of wildfire.
