It’s finally here! The trailer for the animated film ViQueens has been launched and gives the audience a first taste of the magnificent Viking adventure that is based on Lofoten and Lofotr. The trailer can be seen here!
ViQueens is an international animated film project directed by Harald Zwart, and follows two young Viking girls Ingrid and Hedvig on a epic and risky journey from Northern Norway and out into the big world. The film combines suspense, humor and strong female leads, drawing inspiration from real Viking treasures, myths and historical environments.
The story begins at the Lofotr Viking Museum, which has also been a key source of inspiration in the development of the film. Through the collaboration with Museum Nord, the project has had access to solid professional knowledge about Viking Age society, culture and crafts. The goal has been to ensure a credible historical foundation; at the same time as the film reaches a wide, international audience.
“ViQueens is an exciting example of how cultural heritage can be communicated in new ways. The fact that the Viking story from Lofoten reaches a global audience through animated film is both inspiring and important,” says Museum Nord.
The trailer gives a visual and evocative first impression of the film’s universe, characters and epic journey, and marks an important milestone in the work towards a cinema premiere. WE CAN`T WAIT! SO EXCITED!
🗓️ ViQueens is scheduled to premiere on December 25, 2026.
