Sami National Day in Museum Nord

29 January 2026

On 6 February, we celebrate the Sami National Day in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. The first celebration took place in 1993, after the national day was adopted by the Sámi Conference in 1992 in Helsinki. The date is reminiscent of the first Sami national congress that began on 6 February 1917.

Museum Nord has several events in different museums that mark and celebrate the day. We hope that you find an event that suits you and that we can celebrate this important day together.
