Successful winter holiday with the Vikings at Borg

11 March 2026

The winter holiday with the Vikings is now over at Lofotr Viking Museum. The two holiday weeks offered both cozy and exciting experiences for young and old visitors.

On Wednesday and Saturday in week 9 and 10, the museum invited to extra activities during the winter holidays. Here, the children could try traditional crafts and activities inspired by the Viking Age. The guests got to try braiding, kohlrosing, axe throwing and bracelet making. And got to experience the joy of creating something on their own.

The children received help from the museum’s employees along the way. And the young craftsmen could take home what they had made as a small souvenir from the winter holiday.

Good atmosphere in the Chieftain’s House

Curious children, engaged parents and communicators who shared their knowledge of crafts and traditions from the Viking Age. This was a perfect combination to create a good, inclusive and educational atmosphere in the Chieftain’s House. The activities brought together both local families and visiting guests. For many, it was extra fun to try something they may never have done before. Whether it was decorating wooden amulets or testing their precision in axe throwing.

Despite illness in the staff, which led to some small adjustments in the program along the way, the event was carried out in a good way. Thanks to flexible and skilled employees who were available where needed, the activities could be carried out for the benefit of visitors.

We would like to thank everyone who visited us and chose to spend part of their winter holiday with the Vikings at Borg. It is nice to see the museum filled with life, activity and the joy of creation.

We hope to see you again soon, and encourage everyone to keep an eye on our upcoming events!
