The opening of SKREI is approaching. It is inspiring that there is great interest in what SKREI will become. We have had visits from quite a few different groups who wish to hear about what SKREI will become. In addition, we present SKREI in a number of different arenas, such as conferences and meetings.
All visits are well plannet ahead. In addition to site visits we present SKREI on various conferences and occasions. It has added up to quite a few occasions during autumn 2025 and winter 2026.
Not everyone gets in, but SKREI gets out
Due to construction activity, constantly busy days, assembly and furnishing work, it is now becoming more demanding and fewer people are allowed into the Otolith on a tour.
The work of presenting SKREI is nevertheless continuing undeterred. In March, we will, among other things, present SKREI to the Vocational School in Nordland (“sustainable food experiences”) and to NHO Reiseliv Region North Norway. In April, the Norwegian Travel Workshop will take place. There are meetings with tour operators that are in focus, with the hope that they will include SKREI in their programs for guests.
Soon we will open the doors
SKREI will be a destination in itself with experiences on several different arenas. SKREI will consist of the new building The Otolith, The Espolin Gallery, The Lofoten Aquarium and The Lofoten Museum. Each arena tells you something about the Lofoten fisheries, about fish, people, society, about sustainability, about the sea, about living with and from the sea – in its own different way.
The Espolin Gallery, Lofoten Aquarium and Lofoten Museum are already in operation. On June 30th, we also open our new arena The Otolith, and the museum compound will be renamed SKREI. In The Otolith you will find a new, permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions, as well as a café and museum shop.
The Otolith is the first meeting in SKREI and is located between the Lofoten Museum, Espolin Gallery and the Lofoten Aquarium. It is up to you to choose whether you want to visit all the arenas in SKREI, or maybe just one or two.
