Liv Helene Willumsen and Gøril Karlsen have been on a lecture tour in Vesterålen
16 March 2026

Last week, Ane Eliassen, who works at Øksnes Museum with the archive of Øksnes-Langenes Fiskeindustri, was on a trip to Bodø to visit the Archives in Nordland.
Archives in Norland is a partner in the project to map, repackage, and disseminate the ØLF archive, and assists Ane with professional guidance. In Bodø, she was given a tour of their large archive, which is located at Nord University.

Here she was involved in the rough sorting of the archive after Carl Schøyen (1877-1951), a writer and poet who is known for his commitment to bird life, and depictions of Northern Norway. Here she found, among other things, a poem about Richard With – the same poem that was published in Lofotposten on 18 September 1946.

In addition, Ane got to look at the photo archive and learn about photo preservation. Here she got tips on materials and storage methods that can be used in the museum’s own archive.

The stay in Bodø was educational, and Ane reports on nice and helpful employees who answered her questions. All in all, a cozy gathering!
On April 28 at 18:00, Ane will give a lecture on the work with the ØLF archive. This is divided into two parts; first a little about the work with the archive, then the focus will be on how the company was organized, and how it was expanded in the latter part of the 60s. The museum is also handling photo material that has been donated to us. The first step is two public workshops this week, the first on Tuesday 17.3 at 12-15. There, participants with knowledge of ØLF/Myregruppen, who may have worked there around the 60s and 70s, will help us identify people, places, etc. in photos that have been donated to the museum.
