Ord i Spor: Meet this year’s VU artist

17 March 2026

During the Vinterfestuka, Ord i Spor also takes place, where Narvik library is filled with strong voices, good stories and unique meetings between music and literature.

Ord i Spor, Narvik Library and Narvik Museum welcome you to an open and personal conversation with this year’s VU artist Per Heimly at Narvik Library. The conversation will be moderated by museum director Ann Kristin Kristensen.

Per Heimly grew up in Snubba and has over several decades developed into one of Norway’s most distinctive and recognizable artists and photographers. In this conversation, he shares generously from his own life and work ? about upbringing, identity, artistic drive and the road from the north to a national and international art scene. With honesty, humor and seriousness, Heimly invites the audience close to both the person and the artistry behind the camera.

The conversation will also address the project Narvik in France, this year’s VU exhibition at Narvik Museum, where Heimly traveled around France to photograph all 50 places that bear the name Narvik. Heimly shares stories from the journey and the meetings with people along the way.
