A visit by Melbu Husflidslag

From time to time, we receive inquiries from people who want to study things we have in our collections, but which are not exhibited in the museum on a daily basis. This week we welcomed members of Melbu Husflidslag, who wanted to come and see embroidery patterns, embroidery and transfer paper for use for embroidery in the collection of the Bruun family on Børøya.

Prior to the planned visit, we had brought out the relevant objects, and our historian Ingrid Elstad showed and explained.

It was an exciting morning at Melbu. The embroidered needle poutches and purses of Anne-Marlene Bruun (1768-1860) were admired at close quarters, and it was a cheerful and inspired group who left us after the visit
