Primus Motor for our partner, the Norwegian Hurtigruten Museum Foundation, is always on the lookout, looking for new objects for the collection and the museum. Sometimes valuable things that come to the museum are damaged, and special expertise is needed to be able to repair it.
That was the case for this beautiful model of the steamship SS Lyngen, originally built by Bjørn Johansen from Tromsø, that Engen has acquired. The rigging has loosened in several places, and it all looks a bit sad.
But of course, Engen does not give up! And today he was able to happily inform that he had found a man who had the expertise to repair the once beautiful ship model.
The SS Lyngen was a combined cargo and passenger ship, built for the shipping company TFDS in 1931, which for a period in the second half of the 1940s served as a replacement ship in the Coastal Express service.
We very much look forward to seeing the result!
