The Hurtigruten Museum in National Geographic

09 July 2026

The renowned travel journalist Daniel Stables has been to Vesterålen, and of course he took a trip to the Hurtigruten Museum.

After a wonderful meeting with the owner of the lochal pub Rødbrygga, the closest neighbor to the museum, Stables does an interview with the prime mover for the Hurtigruten Museum, and head of the Norwegian Hurtigruten Museum Foundation, Sten-Magne Engen. Here we get the whole story of the fight to save MS Finnmarken from total destruction.

It is always an honour to have the world visit one of our museums. We thank you for your visit, and hope that even more people will now be able to discover beautiful Vesterålen and the fantastic Hurtigruten Museum.
