The Andøy Museum – A gem in the ocean gap

03 September 2026

At the Andøy Museum, you get to know Andøy’s history. From the special geology of lizards to the Iron Age ring yard at Åse. The icing on the cake is a trip to the lighthouse with the good guide Linea.

The museum shop is full of exciting goods that are popular with tourists. Ingrid Stavrum reports good visitors this summer, but less than last year. We blame this on the deplorable summer weather.

At the Andøy Museum, you can look for monsters in the garden and at the same time look at flowers and a nice outdoor exhibition about different types of boats. Did you know that the chain is from Tirpitz? Tirpitz was a German warship that was torpedoed off Tromsø during the war.

Andøy has an exciting and eventful history and I would recommend everyone to take the trip here. Even with low cloud cover, the view from the lighthouse is impeccable.
