On Sunday 6 September, Narvik Museum opened its latest temporary children’s exhibition: “Did you hear that? – Tales that warn and warn”!

Guests of all ages got to know tales from Ofoten, Lofoten and Vesterålen, as well as take part in storytelling sessions with Ann Kristin Kristensen and Trond Blomlie from the Ofoten slekts- og historielag.

There was also serving of Eventyrbrus a and delicious Trollcookies and Princess pillows from JoR Håndverksbakeri!

Áhkánjárgga Sámesearvi had an activity where the children could try to print on skins with wooden print blocks with different symbols!

About the exhibition:
We gather on a dark evening, and tell about horror and ghost. About someone who narrowly escaped death. Someone who was saved from the storm. Someone who lost everything because they took more than they needed. The stories are shared again and again. In a hundred years, the same stories will be shared. Maybe something has changed.
Tales are about something that is supposed to have happened; about historical events and people, how nature and landscapes came to be, and encounters with the supernatural. They entertain, inspire and seek to explain the incomprehensible.
The traveling exhibition from 2026 is made by Øksnes Museum and Narvik Museum. Legends from Ofoten, Lofoten and Vesterålen are presented here. The selected stories are about encounters with the supernatural that knows more than humans. In the legends, people are warned of danger, or warned of good or bad things that can happen.
The exhibition is suitable for families with children, but also adults interested in legends.
