Liv Helene Willumsen and Gøril Karlsen have been on a lecture tour in Vesterålen

This weekend, Meieriet Library in Leknes was filled with history, play and exploration during Superlørdag! Vikings from Lofotr Viking Museum made the trip to create unforgettable experiences for all the children who showed up. It was a fantastic day filled with engagement, learning and curiosity.
Among other things, the children got to say hello to cardboard figures of the characters from the upcoming movie ViQueens. Since the Viking girls in the film are going on a long and exciting journey, the children were given a very important task: To pack the travel chest! What do you really need to bring with you when crossing the sea on a real Viking voyage?

In addition to preparing for the journey, the young Vikings really got to test their skills. It was great fun when they got to try their hand at rope throwing, lift heavy chainmail to test their strength, and throw leather balls to show their accuracy. After a lot of physical exercise and adventurousness, it was time for a quieter moment. Between the bookshelves, there was a pleasant reading aloud, where the children dived into the world of books together with their parents. And of course our reading Vikings!

In total, around 50 smiling visitors gathered, who helped make the day a great success. Seeing the joy, mastery and community across generations is exactly what makes our cultural heritage so vibrant and meaningful.
Did you miss the event, or did you just want more? Save November 21st, because then we invite you to a new, exciting Superlørdag – this time at Lofotr Viking Museum.
