POLAR HISTORY AT THE NORTHERN PEAK OF VESTERÅLEN

One of the most famous polar hunters of Spitsbergen, Hilmar
Nøis, came from Andøy island. At Andøy museum you can see an
exhibition on hunters life, and learn more about the unique geology of
the island.

In the village Risøyhamn there is a small outdoor museum with five
buildings. Visit the annual summer market on 7 July 2018.

GUIDED TOUR TO THE TOP OF ANDENES LIGHTHOUSE

Andenes lighthouse was built in 1859, and was one of the first
cast iron towers in Norway. It’s also one of the tallest in the country, at
40 meters. Inside the lighthouse you can visit an exhibition with special
focus on the harbor and the lighthouse at Andenes. Guided tours are
offered between 11 and 16 every day.
