Engegård, Svendsrud and Haugen trio, have since they established their collaboration in 2015 been active with concerts on small and large stages across the country. They have also recorded several critically acclaimed albums, including the CD “Nordlandslåter” from 2021.
The trio plays classical music, old dance and folk music side by side. The program at Galleri Espolin will consist of a cross-section of the trio’s repertoire, with music by, among others, Fritz Kreisler, Pablo de Sarasate, Bjarne Olsen and Per Bolstad.
Arvid Engegård from Bodø is known as a violinist and conductor throughout Europe, including as primarius for the Engegård Quartet. Furthermore, he is active as a conductor, and regularly leads orchestras such as the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. Within folk music, Engegård has collaborated with musicians such as Susanne Lundeng, Nils Økland and Håvard Svendsrud.
Håvard Svendsrud from Modum is known as one of his generation’s most active musicians on accordion. After completing his music education at the Barratt Dues Institute of Music in 1998, he has been a freelance musician with a wide range of projects. Since 2013, Svendsrud has also been active as a producer for his own record label, Accent.
Svein Haugen from Andøy has been double bassist in the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra for 38 years, most years as solo bassist. In addition to this, he has been active in a large number of ensembles and groups, including in the gypsy ensemble “Sturm und Drang”. Svein Haugen is today still to be found in various orchestras and ensembles. Kork and Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra. Furthermore, every summer he leads his own festival “Festitur” in Vesterålen.
