Lofotr Viking Museum celebrates 30 years with an anniversary exhibition!

We invite guests of all ages to celebrate the opening of the exhibition, showcasing 30 years of history, pride, and community at Lofotr Viking Museum!

Lofotr Viking Museum began with an archaeological discovery at Borg, made possible thanks to local engagement and dedicated individuals such as Kåre Ringstad and Frik-Harald Bjerkli. The excavations of the longhouse from 1983 – 1989 uncovered the longest known Viking-age longhouse, and today the museum stands as a living testament to both the Viking Age and the local community’s efforts.

On the day of the anniversary, our conservator will officially open the exhibition, and there will be entertainment and activities for the whole family. The museum will also be open as usual from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, making this a perfect opportunity to combine the exhibition opening with a visit to the rest of the museum. Bring your friends and family and join us in celebrating 30 years of Viking treasures, history, and community!
