Grave Walk – Where the Ancestors Rest

Lofotr Viking Museum invites you to a new evening event that combines history, atmosphere, and storytelling.
Grave Walk – Where the Ancestors Rest offers a guided walk through six stops in the landscape around the museum. Along the way, you will gain insight into burial traditions from the Stone Age until more recent times. The guide conveys both the stories behind the discoveries and how research and modern technology are used to interpret and understand the past.
On the walk, you will see a burial mound up close. The trip ends around the fire with something hot to drink, before the evening is rounded off with a dramatic story about Balder’s death.
Practical information:
The event takes place outdoors and involves walking both on roads and in terrain in the area around the museum. Warm, windproof clothing and good shoes are therefore recommended. The museum provides a light source that is carried during the walk. After the event, the museum shop will open so visitors can purchase something special to take home.
Check-in: at the Visitor Centre/Glasshouse
Duration: about 2 hours.
