Huinndagan Family Saturday

On the weekend of 25-26, the Huinndagan music festival will take place in Alsvåg, right outside Øksnes museum! On that occasion, we are arranging a family day for everyone during the daytime on Saturday 26th!

The museum is open at regular times, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be bouncy castles, performances on stage, café, market, “the excavators”, etc.

NOTE! Because of Family Day, the café in Storstua is closed (there is a café in the parking lot), and there are no guided tours of the main farm. The exhibition “My Ship is loaded with…” can be visited at a special price kr. 50,-

The museum’s program:

• Rebus race
  Recommended age: 7+ years
  Duration: Continuous, the activity is carried out on your own time.
  Location: The entire museum area
  Price: FREE
  Find posters outside the museum and solve puzzles! Everyone who solves the tasks will receive a small prize that can be picked up in the museum shop.
• The Excavators
  Recommended age: 4-12 years
  Group size: Max 15 children. There is no registration here, so it is first come, first served. Be aware that there may be some waiting time.
  Location: Outside the entrance to the museum.
  Duration: The activity is ongoing and there is an employee present to help throughout the day.
  Price: FREE
  The children get to play archaeologists and dig up real animal bones. Some are tiny, others are huge! What animals could they belong to? In The Excavators, the children get to explore and learn about animals, nature and archaeology in a down-to-earth and fun way. We at the museum are present to help and share our knowledge throughout the activity.
• Colour and cut out your own Bruun doll
  Recommended age: All.
  Place: Storstua on the main farm.
  Price: FREE
  In the exhibition “My Ship is loaded with…” you can see the Bruun doll, which is probably Vesterålen’s oldest doll. She is almost 150 years old! In the living room, you can cut out and colour your own paper version of the Bruun doll.
  Here there is also the opportunity to relax with coloring for younger children or those who just want to take it easy.
