EvoCave – Cave research in Nordland

During the Research Days in Narvik, researchers Trond Lødøen and Sanne Boessenkool come to Narvik library to talk about the exciting EvoCave project. How do they work in the caves? What do they hope to find?

EvoCave is an interdisciplinary research project that excavates caves in Kjøpsvik in Narvik municipality, and in Fauske municipality, to find out what the cave systems hide of past lives and history.

The project’s goal is to investigate 122,000 years of fauna diversity at high latitudes using paleozoology, archaeology, paleoecology and ancient DNA.

The project is led by the University of Oslo and the University of Bergen, in close collaboration with the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, as well as the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø.

The event is in collaboration with UiT Narvik and Narvik library
