Summer opening of Øksnes Museum with unveiling of a “blue sign”, café and lecture

We’re opening the museum on Saturday 28th of June, and we have a packed program!

PROGRAM:

• 11 a.m. – The café and summer exhibition open.
• 11:30 – Unveiling of a “blue sign” by Hilde Hansen from Alsvåg Vel, Julie Beck Gjellesvik from Øksnes Museum, Asbjørn Paulsen and mayor Elisabeth Sørdahl.
• 12:00 – Musical interlude in the main living room with William Garcia Gutierrez.
• 13:00 – Lecture by Ingrid Elstad on the occasion of the summer exhibition “My ship is loaded with…”
• 14-16 – Café, summer exhibition and the opportunity for a guided tour of the Alsvåg farmhouse.

During the opening of the museum, we mark Alsvåg Farmhouse’s rich history with a blue sign. Blue signs are a way to mark and communicate historical events, places and people. Such a sign has been created for the farmhouse, as the first of its kind in Øksnes. The sign is sponsored by Alsvåg Vel, and arranged in collaboration between Alsvåg Vel and the museum. Before and after the celebration, you can enjoy a coffee and a waffle/cake in the café in the farmhouse, or visit the summer exhibition “My ship is loaded with…”. There will be a musical performance in the café at 12:00 with William Garcia Gutierrez.

At 13:00 there will be a lecture with Ingrid Elstad related to the exhibition “My ship is loaded with…”. This year, we are showing pictures of unique objects from the wealthy shipping family Bruun. After the lecture, there will be an opportunity to join a guided tour of the farmhouse.

Please note that due to the event, we will not be doing guided tours before 14:00 at the earliest.

Four Saturdays in June and July, there will be a café in Alsvåg farmhouse with coffee and cakes, and storytelling and lectures in the museum building.
