Sørvågen Radio 30 years

Sørvågen Radio — a Telecommunications Museum opened 30 years ago, and that calls for a celebration!

The date May 1st is an important one for the telecommunications museum. This year marks 30 years since the museum first opened. As well as 120 years since the first civilian wireless telegraph connection in Northern Europe was established. And it was also only the second of its kind in the world!

The connection ran between Sørvågen and Røst. Laying the foundation for wireless communication and, eventually, the use of radio on boats.

Join us in celebrating this special occasion. The day will include the opening of a new exhibition about Sørvågen Radio, guided tours, and stories about the charming museum, with a focus on a topic that played a particularly important role in the development of the local community.
