The wait is over!

After several months marked by silent rooms and closed doors, the Lofoten Museum is finally ready to welcome visitors back on May 1st. We are both proud and delighted to invite you to the reopening of the historic Manor House – a building that carries powerful stories of life, work, power, and social structures in Lofoten across generations.
While the museum has been closed to the public, extensive work has been taking place behind the scenes. The Manor House has undergone long-awaited renovation and refurbishment, carried out with great respect for the building’s history, architecture, and distinctive character. Our goal has been to preserve the soul of the house while adapting it to contemporary standards for interpretation and visitor experience.
Alongside the restoration work, we have developed new and engaging exhibitions that breathe fresh life into the building. Both well-known and lesser-known stories are brought to the forefront, offering new perspectives on the past of the Lofoten community. The exhibitions invite reflection, curiosity, and dialogue, bringing the voices of the past closer to today’s audience.
The result is a museum that is both renewed and faithful to its roots. The Lofoten Museum is a place where history is not only displayed, but experienced – in an accessible, vibrant, and relevant way. Whether you are visiting us for the first time or returning as a familiar guest, we hope to offer new insights and memorable experiences.
We warmly invite visitors of all ages to join the celebration as we reopen our doors. Bring your family, friends, or colleagues and experience the Manor House as you have never seen it before.
Welcome to the Lofoten Museum – a place for memories, learning, and joy.
